Post Production: 1st Rough Cut

Beginning the first stages of the rough cut after production. I've learnt what works well for the film and what doesn't. A lot of the narration has been cut down for the purpose of simplicity and to reduce complications of the subject matter; love. I'm aiming to try and keep this as heart to heart with the audience as I can; this is going to keep them engaged with the characters arc in the film.

Also, I've deduced that I need extra sounds, such as a background atmosphere of the forest running through certain scenes. This is so the scenes with the character's actions and sounds in them do not obviously jump out in the fluidity of sound. Also, I've found that the music being played continuously throughout the film doesn't work. I anticipated it to, however I feel that it works better in certain scenes than in all of them. This being that the music carries the same tone to the film. And the tone and emotion of the film is suppose to change by the end.

However, things that do work are moments where there is absolute silence after sound. For example, the moments where the flint and steel is being struck, then the flame itself is silent. I may choose to add sound to this later. But as it stands, I think it creates a very nice effect as it makes the visual more dominant; the audience can almost hear the flame in their minds.
